Its main purpose is to create a stress-free final connection in a rigid tube system. The swivel nut allows you to tighten the seal without twisting the tube, which is essential when connecting two fixed points. It also greatly simplifies maintenance by allowing easy removal of components.
The swivel connection is sealed by an O-ring located in a groove on the fitting body. When the swivel nut is tightened, it compresses this O-ring to create a high-pressure, leak-tight seal.
No. A swivel union is designed to be adjustable during installation only. Once tightened, it is a fixed, static connection and should not be rotated under pressure. For applications requiring continuous or intermittent rotation, you need a dedicated rotary union or swivel joint.
Our standard O-ring material is NBR (Nitrile), which is suitable for most standard hydraulic oils. We also offer FKM (Viton) O-rings as an option for higher temperature applications or when using synthetic fluids.
